In 2005, the retail chain Party City was purchased by Amscan Holdings, Inc., the largest designer, manufacturer and distributor of party goods in the world. Through this merger, Amscan Inc. was able to create the largest party retail chain in North America with over 900 stores. I have worked for several years as a designer at Amscan Inc., creating packaging, signage, advertising and directing photography in order to create a unified, cohesive look for the company. Here is a collection of a few of those projects.

PARTY CITY STOREFRONT

Art DIRECTOR: LAURIE COLE
Role: LEAD Designer

Creating a new storefront look for the entire Party City retail chain was a challenge but also an opportunity. With over 900 retail locations, each store has a unique window layout and set of dimensions. The new storefront window signage had to be both eye-catching and extremely adaptable. Our solution was to create a series of party vignettes for every type of celebration. Whether for a children's party, wedding, baby shower or sports event, we wanted to show that Party City has everything you will need.

After Amscan Inc. and Party City merged together, it was necessary for employees at Party City to have new, cohesive business cards that reflected the updated branding style.

PArty city email redesign
Client: amscan Inc.
art director: laurie cole
Role: lead Designer

With more and more customers viewing emails on their mobile devices, Amscan Inc. and Party City were looking for a new email layout that would be both eye-catching and easily viewable on desktop computers and mobile devices. Shifting the focus of these email blasts towards a single call to action demonstrated the usefulness of these targeted emails.

Party City's seasonal and everyday signage is updated frequently to reflect the changing holiday seasons and product lines. New signage is always needed to direct shoppers to different sections in the store and to offer visual inspiration for the newest party product collections.

FanRAGEOUS TRUCK
Client: amscan Inc.
art director: laurie cole
Role: lead Designer

Amscan Inc. has developed an extensive line of colored wearable gear that sports fans can mix and match to show their team spirit. In order to promote this new product line called Color City, a truck and tailgating trailer were created to tailgate at major sports venues before games and give out samples of Fanrageous wear. The trailer also contains beer taps, LCD TVs and a grill for food.

Role: lead Designer

Party City opened the doors to its flagship store on W 34th St, NYC in 2012. The store is below street level with a small lobby and escalators leading down to the main store. The branding of this lobby was essential to drawing customers coming out of Penn Station across the street into the store below. The storefront branding from the rest of the retail chain was tailored to fit this particularly unique space.
